The Olympiastadion

The information I'll be sharing might not be true at all, but it is thought provoking nonetheless.

The stadium which hosted the Olympic games in 1972 was a revolutionary construction even by today's standard. It was designed to imitate the Alps which explains its hanging canopies of acrylic glass.

Unknown to many, what sparked this construction was a demonstration by the builder to support a hankerchief with a few chopsticks. He assured the officials that he could materialize the stick model into a renowned building that can stand for the longest time. Given today's engineering requirements, he wouldn't even be allowed to build a pillar.

And there it is 40 years from then... standing
